Lunasol Spring 2010 Collection

When it comes to spring makeup, Lunasol is one of my favorite brands that I always have high hopes.

Earlier this morning, I was so excited to come across Lunasol spring 2010 makeup collection from this post on Voce Editor's blog. The collection is themed with five spectacular, natural views on earth, including the seas, greenery, lands, sands and flowers.

Among the five eyeshadow palettes in this collection, the one in beige/brown variation appeals the most to me.

Bond No. 9 Success is a Job in New York City Eau de Parfum

In October, New York-based perfume house Bond No. 9 launched "Success is a Job in New York." Following Silver Factory, Union Square and Lexington Avenue, Success is a Job in New York City is the latest addition to the Andy Warhol series.

It is named after the title of an article illustrated by Andy Warhol as his first assignment for Glamour magazine in the 50s. The bottle features the iconic silkscreened dollar signs designed by Andy Warhol in 1981.

Notes of Success is a Job in New York City Eau de Parfum:

Top notes: Bergamot, Cardamom Seed, Mandarin, Coriander, Nugmet
Middle notes: Pimento, Tuberose, Rose de Mai, Jasmine, Forbidden Plum, Iris
Base notes: Patchouli, Amber, Vanilla

The opening is citrusy and spicy. It settles down quickly to reveal a refreshing, yet relatively rich opening as the notes of bergamot, nutmeg and cardamon seed lend a soft sweetness and warmness to the beginning of this fragrance.

The top notes lead to a white floral accord with a faint hint of greenness. The notes of tuberose, jasmine and iris are more prominent in the heart, which is oriental, intense and powdery, but not overly sweet.

The scents mellow down to a warm, rich and velvety smooth finish, resting on an oriental base of vanilla and amber. The lasting power is good. It lasts eight to ten hours on my skin.




Summary

Success is a Job in New York City eau de parfum is a gourmand and oriental floral fragrance for cold weather of fall and winter. The intense, rich scents of Success is a Job in New York are an acquired taste. The fragrance weaving through a sensual blend of rich, savory scents and powdery, floral notes has a compelling and opulent character. I love the complexity and longevity of this fragrance.

Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil RD702 (Anemone)

Shiseido's international makeup line, simply called Shiseido, has been revamped since its spring releases in January, 2009. The famed British makeup artist Dick Page is the new Makeup Artistic Director of Shiseido.

Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil RD702 (Anemone)

Perfect Rouge (in 20 shades) and Smoothing Lip Pencil (in 7 shades) are the initial releases debuted with its spring '09 collection.

Smoothing Lip Pencil is currently available in seven shades in different tones: pink, red, raspberry, beige and brown. RD702 (Anemone) is one of the two shades categorized as red in the lineup.

Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil RD702 (Anemone)

Color
Though RD 702 (Anemone) is categorized as red, it is a neutral-toned light pink with slight berry and grey undertones. The color of the tube captures the actual color of this lip liner very well.

Texture
Compared to my Chantecaille Lip Definer in Nuance, the texture of Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil is relatively firm. It is, however, not stiff or harsh to the touch. It gives a smooth and precise application without dragging the skin.

Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil RD702 (Anemone)

Packaging
The built-in lip lining brush with soft, natural bristles is easy to use. I haven't had any problems with the bristles falling out.

Pigment
It offers a rich, full pigment that covers the redness and uneven skin tone of my lips effectively. The shade complements my lip colors in light pink and pinkish nude.

Finish
Though RD 702 is a light pink with slight berry and grey undertones, it goes a pastel, cool-toned pink on my lips. The finish is slightly cool-toned, but not overly bright or chalky. It gives subtle depth and definition to my lips.

Lasting Power

Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil is long-lasting. It does a good job preventing the lipstick or lip gloss from feathering. This lip liner shade comes off slightly after drinks and light meals. The color does wear off after a meal.

I happened to spot Shiseido holiday 2009 Rich Rocks Collection while browsing and trying out the holiday makeup collections at Bloomingdale's yesterday. The colors in Shiseido's limited-edition holiday '09 collection looked mysteriously rich, yet wearable.

Designed by Makeup Artistic Director of Shiseido, Dick Page, the colors were inspired by the pure textures and colors of precious stones found during his travels in the Four Corners area of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona in the US.

It is a relatively small collection that includes:

• Luminizing Satin Eye Color: 3 new shades
• Perfect Mascara: 1 new shade
• Smoothing Eyeliner Pencil: 1 new shade
• Perfect Rouge: 1 new shade

Product Review: La Mer The Radiant Concealer SPF 25

La Mer The Radiant Concealer SPF 25

In late August, La Mer launched The Radiant Concealer SPF25 in the US. For the avid fans of La Mer Skincolor base makeup line, this was exciting news. This concealer release has been eagerly awaited for years after the great success of the initial lineup (including The Powder, The Treatment Fluid Foundation SPF15 and The Treatment Crème Foundation SPF15) debuted in 2006.

Color
The Radiant Concealer SPF25 is currently available in three shades: Light, Medium, and Dark. The color I have tried is Medium. The Medium shade is a light ochre with pink undertones. I was worried if the color went on too pinky for my fair skin. I am glad that the pink pigment doesn't really show on my skin. Instead, it gives a radiant ivory finish on my face.

Texture
It has a cream-to-powder formula that feels very soft, smooth and moist on the touch. The texture is lightweight and creamy. It goes on buttery, and dries to a powder finish very quickly by blending with fingertips or a concealer brush. It blends easily to even out discolored skin tone and conceal the imperfections.

Compared to my IPSA Whitening Creative Concealer (SPF18 PA++), the blending application with La Mer The Radiant Concealer SPF 25 is smoother and easier.

Finish & Coverage
It provides a radiant, natural matte finish. A little goes a long way. The concealer covers the imperfections and blemishes well.

It can be built for the desired coverage from a light, natural coverage for my dark circles to a full coverage of my redness, pimples and freckles.

Lasting Power
It stays on all day, and does not settle into fine lines easily. What I love most about this concealer is its moisturizing benefit. It maintains a fresh and lively look throughout the day without turning cakey or dull.

Packaging
It is housed in a rectangular case with a mirror inside the lid. It also comes with a small concealer brush and a faux leather pouch.

Summary
La Mer The Radiant Concealer SPF 25 is moisturizing and lightweight in texture. It is very easy to blend, and can be built for the desired coverage.

It does a good job evening out the skin tone, and covers up the imperfections and blemishes effectively. It gives a natural matte finish. Compared to other concealer products I have used, it makes the skin appear more radiant, lively and youthful. It is long-lasting without drying out the skin and turning dull or ashy. It is a good choice for all skin types.
